The Selective Bibliography is not just one thing, but four things. The Selective Bibliography is, of course, a body of research. The Selective Bibliography is also a collective of current and graduated undergraduate student researchers. As our researchers know well, the Selective Bibliography is also a research program and methodology. And finally, the Selective Bibliography is an ethos which permeates through all the project does.
This project grew out of the Consortium on Forced Migration, Displacement and Education and the Lexicon of Forced Migration class (taught at each Consortium school multiple times). Multiple rounds of student research groups contributed to the Selective Bibliography’s research on this website. Each group provided new insight on how to best present their work and grow the project. Many of our researchers have gone through the Lexicon course and we continue to cultivate a relationship with the class. Student led research, such as that done in the Lexicon of Forced Migration class, is the lifeblood of the Selective Bibliography and its future.
Currently, the website is home to 30 different research sections and several hundred individual written and audiovisual sources. Many of these sections also serve as interactive guides to help the reader navigate the material and could be used as teaching tools for those learning in a classroom setting.
